Porsche Shows What’s So Great About The New 2021 911 Turbo S.

The Porsche 911 Turbo has always been a crazy thing, with supercar-level power and speed in abundance. The new 992-generation Turbo S continues the tradition with a mad 640 horsepower—nearly as much as the old GT2 RS.

Both the Turbo and Turbo S are equiped with a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-six engine that makes up to 640 horsepower in the more powerful of the two variants. Porsche claims a zero-to-60-mph time of 2.6 seconds and hit a top speed of 205 mph for the Turbo S. The open-topped Turbo S Cabriolet needs just 0.1 second longer to hit the mile-a-minute mark and sees no reduction in top speed.

The 911 Turbo and Turbo S come standard with the same large touchscreen infotainment system as lesser 911s, complete with Porsche’s intuitive software interface. A premium audio system from Bose is standard.

As with all 911 models, the Turbo and Turbo S will technically be four-seaters, although the rear seats won’t be usable by adults. The cabin will likely mirror that of the entry-level 911 Carrera models but with racier trim, more expensive options, and plenty of standard technology features such as reconfigurable digital gauge displays. The 911 comes with a front trunk which holds two carry-on suitcases and the rear-seat backs fold forward to create a large flat cargo area in the coupe model; in our testing, we were able to fit six carry-on cases behind the front seats.

The body of the new Turbo S is wider than its predecessor, measuring 72.44 inches across at the front and a massive 74.8 inches at the rear to accommodate a widened track. The rear is also close to 2.0 inches wider than on the regular Carrera, resulting in a very sexy wide-body look. Filling the large wheel arches are staggered wheels measuring 20 inches and with 255/35-size tires at the front and 21 inches with 315/30-size tires at the rear.

Pricing for the Turbo S will start at $‭204,850‬ for the coupe and ‭$217,650‬ for the convertible, including destination. Pricing for the Turbo will be announced when that model is revealed.
