Ariel Ace Iron Horse

Manufacturers of insanely fast and naughty cars, Ariel has just unveiled the Ace R.

British firm mixes the historic and contemporary in new 172hp V4 model. The Iron Horse gets its name from Ariel’s combination of the historic and modern

The frame is carbon fibre bodywork and a carbon fuel tank sits at its front. To match the carbon’s pattern, the stitching of the hand-trimmed seat runs at the same angle to the tank’s weave. There are polished aluminium handlebars, adjustable footrests, adjustable brake and gear levers and titanium heel guards and mounting brackets. You also get full LED lighting and LCD instrumentation, as well as six-piston front callipers, ABS and traction control.

Power comes from the same 173bhp 1237cc V4 engine as other Aces, attached to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. It serves up 0-60mph in three seconds a 170mph top speed.

For now only ten will be produced.
“Every Ace is unique to its owner, but we wanted to make a truly special bike that built on knowledge gained from other Ariel Limited Editions such as the Atom V8 and Mugen”, said Tom Siebert, boss-man at Ariel. ‘After 17 years slowly building Ariel to where it is today we understand low volume vehicles, as well as the customers that buy them, and we know that the extra performance plus our usual scrupulous attention to detail on this special motorcycle will be very appealing.”
