The Jeep Trackhawk is the fastest SUV on ice
The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk hit the record 174mph at Russia’s Lake Baikal during the Baikal Ice Motor Sports Festival. Speeds were measured over a distance of 1km first with a rolling start then from a standing start. The course was run in both directions – in line with Russian Automobile Federation and FIA rules – and averages taken. With a rolling start the Jeep averaged almost 160mph (257km/h) over 1km, peaking at 174mph (280km/h). From a standing start it averaged over 62mph (100km/h). This makes it the fastest SUV on ice.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk and SRT feature world-class on-road driving dynamics for improved traction. High-performance Brembo brake systems not only provide superb stopping power, but added confidence in a variety of conditions. Trackhawk is equipped with two-piece 15.75-inch slotted rotors and six-piston front brake calipers painted yellow, while SRT has 15-inch vented front rotors and six-piston brake calipers clad in red.
The Trackhawk isn’t just a looker; under the hood, it’s a top-notch performer. Accelerating from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds. High-strength, forged-alloy pistons, powder-forged connecting rods and sodium-cooled exhaust valves all add to the power of the Supercharged 6.2L V8 engine. Not only does it give the Trackhawk up to 707 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque, but it has a maximum towing capacity of up to 7,200 pounds.
