For decades, the GMC Sierra represented the embodiment of strength, capability, premium design, and refinement in a full-size pickup truck. That has never been more true than with the Next Generation 2019 GMC Sierra – especially the 2019 GMC Sierra Denali.

Top-end Denali models will come with a bunch of upscale tech, including a multi-colour head-up display, 8.0-inch infotainment display, rear camera mirror, surround-view exterior camera system, blind spot monitoring, pedestrian alert and low-speed forward automatic braking.

GMC says the Denali also includes an adaptive ride control suspension that sounds a lot like the magnetic ride control setup that’s optional in the Yukon full-size SUV and makes it such a pleasant vehicle to drive.

The 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 allows you to haul and tow with ease thanks to its available ProGrade™ Trailering System that provides advanced trailering equipment. Also on offer is a new smartphone app for trailering that includes a pre-trip checklist and trailer tire pressure monitoring, among other functions. Hitching up is made easier by a hitch guidance system that helps the driver position the truck in relation to the trailer, and available side-view cameras and an HD camera that can be mounted on the trailer provide extra confidence once truck and trailer are connected.

The standard engine of the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 is a 5.3L EcoTec™3 V8 that supplies it with 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. This 5.3L V8 engine pairs with an 8-Speed Automatic Transmission to achieve EPA fuel economy estimates of 17 MPG in the city and 23 MPG on the highway. A 6.2L EcoTec™3 V8 is an available option for the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 and it produces 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. A 10-Speed Automatic Transmission works with the 6.2L V8 to average EPA efficiency ratings of 15 MPG city driving and 20 MPG cruising the highway.

Also new this year is a 3.0L turbodiesel inline six, marking the first time in a long time the Sierra 1500 has been offered with a diesel. The 3.0L will produce a peak 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. Peak torque is produced at a low 1,500 RPM, suggesting an engine with a relatively long stroke and/or undersquare bore-stroke ratio.
