Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera Sciadipersia

This is Sciadipersia or Maserati Gran Turismo by Milan-based Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera.

Sciadipersia, which is Italian for “Shah of Iran.” The name was chosen because the project is inspired by a previous commission of three bespoke Maserati 5000GTs completed by Touring in 1958 for Iran’s ruler at the time, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.

Sciadipersia

Not a single body panel is shared between the Sciadipersia and the GranTurismo on which it is based, although the windshield and door handles have been retained. Interestingly, the car’s body is more than 50 percent carbon fiber, which is a first for Touring Superleggera. The company has traditionally operated using aluminum beaten and rolled into shape by hand.

The exterior is certainly unique, the cabin largely carries over. Despite this, there are number of special touches including premium leather and Alcantara upholstery. You can find revised instrumentation, new trim and special badg. This is a nice coupe 2 + 2 very personal style, whose eccentric design hides a chassis and under Maserati Gran Turismo Coupé.

The restyled GranTurismo still packs the Maserati-sourced powertrain, which means you will get the same naturally aspirated 4.7-liter V8 engine that develops as much as 454 hp and 520 Nm of torque and spins the rear wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission and promises a more refined sound than the Trident brand sports car. This should get the Sciadipersia up to 60 mph in around 4.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 187 mph.
