Yamaha’s VMAX power cruiser celebrates its 12th year of production.
Presented in 2008 as a Star Motorcycle the VMAX has been rebranded and now slots in Yamaha’s Sport Heritage motorcycle line.
The 2020 Yamaha VMAX features enhanced stability at corner entry. Slipper clutch eliminates wheel hop and maintains rear wheel contact with the surface. When the engine torque increases, the clutch moves back to its original position. The detail was first introduced in 2006 and proved to perform equally well on wet and dry road surfaces.
Light and compact chassis are made of cast aluminum. This material has come a long way from the oversized tubes. It is strong and stiff. It gives it a lively handling in tight situations and a solid ride for climbing. The swingarm and rear frame are also made of aluminum.
The 2020 Yamaha VMAX has got a 1679cc, 65-degree, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected V4 DOHC engine. It can pump out 179 horsepower and deliver 100 lb-ft of torque. The vehicle combined the performance of a superbike with the comfort of a cruiser.
