This is the new Koenigsegg Gemera, and it is a family supercar because it has four seats, hot and cold cupholders, front and rear seat infotainment, wireless phone charging and the ability to store four adults’ carry-on luggage.

It’s equipped with three electric motors—one for each rear wheel and one on the engine’s crankshaft—pump out a combined 1,100 horsepower. Another 600 hp comes from the Gemera’s “Tiny Friendly Giant” three-cylinder engine displaces just 2.0-liters and thanks to a set of turbos, produces 600 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. The Gemera will be the first production application of Koenigsegg’s pioneering Freevalve pneumatic valve control system, which allows the engine’s software to electronically control valve timing and lift far more precisely than any camshaft ever could.

The hybrid range is 590 miles, but it can go for 31 miles on its 15-kwh battery alone and at speeds up to 186 mph. Signature Koenigsegg design elements include a carbon fiber monocoque, wrap-around jet fighter inspired windshield, hidden A-pillars, the short overhangs and large side air intakes. The front design is inspired by the company’s first-ever prototype – the 1996 Koenigsegg CC.

The Gemera fittingly offers more interior seating than any other hypercar. Giant scissor doors open vertically, allowing riders to climb into the back without moving the seats that can accommodate four adults as tall as six-foot-seven, and a carry-on bag each, with an optional roof pod offering more storage if necessary. Because the second row offers Isofix mounts for child seats, the Gemera can truly be used as a family vehicle, making it the most daily-drivable car of its kind. Safety features include six smart airbags, stability control, traction control, ABS and an ADAS 2.5 driver assistance system.

The planned production run will be limited to just 300 vehicles with a price tag of $1.7 million each. Head to Koenigsegg’s website to learn more.
